Racism: The Virus that Causes Hate

hazmatIt’s 2015 and unfortunately history is repeating itself.  Sure I’ve heard the saying all my life but I guess I wasn’t a 100% believer.  Growing up a child of the 80s and 90s, I witnessed some racism and have experienced “disguised” racism.  The kind that shows up in school from classmates, on the job, in stores/restaurants, at events, meetings, in neighborhoods etc.  Just the everyday black experience that’s normal for most conscious blacks (not all blacks are cognizant for whatever reasons).  As life goes on, blacks continue to face and overcome obstacles that are on our path and strive to overcome those obstacles with the tools our parents, grandparents and ancestors have taught us to use along with our timely vaccinations we’ve received from America such as the Emancipation Proclamation; 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, Plessy vs Ferguson, Brown vs Board of Education, Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action etc.

The aforementioned vaccines have attempted to provide immunity to the disease of hate.  In some cases, some Americans were immune to the vaccines and continued to show symptoms of the virus while others appeared to be asymptomatic.  That is until 2008, when the first African American President took office, that the Racism Virus transitioned from its dormant lysogenic stage to its lytic stage bursting and infecting those Americans that were asymptomatic victims of the  Racism Virus.  In order for the Racism Virus to transition from the lysogenic stage to the lytic stage, the virus must be triggered by various stimulants.  In this case the stimulants are the accomplishments of President Obama, an African American President.  Such triggers are Health Care Reform, the Iran Nuclear Deal, American-Cuban relations, Justice System Reform, and LGBT Rights just to name a few.

Those Americans that suffer from the Racism Virus continue to latch on to other Americans and inject them with their stereotypical thoughts and asinine opinions spreading this ugly virus via mass meetings, rallies, media and various platforms.  The virus has spread so that an alarming number of Americans have been contaminated with this virus that has continued to replicate and produce various infectious strands over the years.  It’s current strands exists as institutionalized strands that reside in America’s justice system, police departments, schools (no child left behind that leaves several behind, special education, school to prison pipeline), jobs, neighborhoods, etc.

The question remains,  how does one cure this pandemic virus?
